The holiday season is usually the busiest time of the year for Internet retailers. Many stores have considerably more sales during these few weeks than they do all year long. In order to get the most sales, you will need to do some updating and preparation.

The new Google search is relying heavily on local traffic within top search results. If you are an online only retailer, this can make your site rank lower than brick and mortar shops with websites. You need to get listed in Internet directories such as shop local sites and yellow page listings.

Now is the time to set up or update your mailing list. Remove addresses that are bouncing and those that have asked to unsubscribe. Double check that all links are working in your newsletter. Update the template if needed. 

If you don’t have a Facebook fan page, now is the time to create one. If you do have one, take a look at it and update as needed. Add photos of products that are available and link back to your shop where they can buy them.

Make sure your site, blog, Facebook, and Twitter are up to date. You want your name to be fresh in the minds of your customers so they thinking of you when they are doing their holiday shopping. Frequent updates will help boost your Google rank for new customers as well.
